Catchin' up...

So, today I got together with a dear dear friend of mine, Angie.
She is just a wonderful ray of sunshine, and one of my kindred spirits.
I have only found a few kindred spirits in my 18 years of life, and she is definitely one of them.
We hardly ever get together, but when we DO, we talk about everything from clothes and sex, to politics and what scares the shizz out of us. Nothing is off limits, and I know that no matter what I say, Angie won't mind :) And most of the time she'll actually agree with me. And vice versa. Tis the perfect arrangement.
Plus we can be ugly and weird around each other...which I feel is a VITAL part of being kindred spirits.
Here are some pictures to prove my point:

 So ravishing...

Angie: "This is a toothpaste mustache"
Allie: "....."

Angie: "This is a toothpaste mustache on my chin"
Allie: "I think that's called a beard..."

There are no words to describe this one...

Old lady faces...mine doesn't really look old. Just ugly.

But just to redeem ourselves: We can (and usually are) stunningly gorgeous and are sometimes mistaken for famous super models. Yeah. I know. Pretty dang impressive.

So yeah, we had a wonderful time catching up before I leave.
Which leads me to my NEXT point of interest:

Where has my life gone?
I am so unbelievably excited to go to BYU, but it kinda snuck up on me pretty ridiculously fast. I can't handle the fact that I have to start saying goodbye to people for real. Like,
"I'm moving away and I'll be back to visit over Christmas, but other than that I'm leaving forever" goodbyes.
Too scary.
I wish I could just magically show up on campus at BYU tomorrow and skip all the byes. I don't do well with goodbyes at all. AT ALL. So wish me luck.

Today for Gideon's birthday, we had the most epic Nerf battle that has ever occurred. Complete with war paint and tipping all the furniture over to make forts and barricades. Jealous, are you? Good. You should be.

Also, I spent a little bit too much time creeping on BYU student's freshman year albums on fb. GAH I'm just too excited to contain it!!!! So I won't try to contain it.
IIII AMMM SOOO EXXCCITTTEEEDDDDD!!!!!! Times a bazillion milllion trilllion.

13 days!!!

"4 and a half gold stars for you"...

Here's what I don't like:
When my dog farts. It smells like death. Like, makes-your-nose-bleed bad.
When you sit so long your butt hurts
Sour milk
Saying goodbye
Math homework
Bad grammar
Wet socks

Also: GOVERNMENT MEETINGS. That I have to go to. To graduate. BLECH.

Here's what I love:
School Of Rock
Chillin' in my room in my undies eating chocolate and listening to music
Singing in the shower
Chicken salad sandwiches
Quoting movies. Like a lot. You have no idea. Just ask Cami.
Getting asked out on dates
Having the boy actually plan the date
Bees knees

Here is the one I just bought and I am in love with it. I might marry it.

I love him so much. I pee my pants EVERY TIME I see one of his movies. Goodness he's hilarious. I cannot even handle it.

4 and a half gold stars for you, Jack Black.
(I will give whoever knows what movie that quote is from...4 and a half gold stars as well)

Hmmmm other things to blog about...hmmmmm....

I got asked out on a date today. Which, regardless of who you are, makes you feel good, I guarantee it.
So THAT was good.
Plus I looked super hot today.

Something else I have realized lately:
Whenever I'm just sitting on the floor doing homework, (or blogging) or whatever, I always find myself zoned out, rocking back and forth.
Is that weird? Yes, yes it is.
Can it be explained? I don't know.
Am I just antsy? YES.
Am I just insane? Quite possibly.
Well, that was just a weird happenstance in the life of Allison Heroux.

Tomorrow is Gideon's 9th birthday.
(He is my wonderfully adorable little brother.)

Best little brother in the world!
For his birthday, we are having a nerf gun war. Yeah. You heard me correctly.

I can't wait. Get ready to get owned, family. It's on.

Is 19 pairs too many?...

So, I have spent the afternoon shopping for unmentionables and cleaning out my room so I may leave for college. It's been surprisingly easy. I am just ridiculously, indescribably excited to go to BYU.
Ahhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!! :) :)

This is a fabulous going away to college/leaving the nest song. I LOVE IT.

Today I finally faced the challenge of deciding what shoes to take with me to college...this was quite a daunting task considering I have...lets just say way too many pairs of shoes. ALL of which I love. I sat down, and through a very very intense selection process chose 19 pairs of shoes to take with me.
Mind you, these are the shoes that I cannot possibly bear to part with.
Too many? Maybe.
Worth losing the closet space? Absolutely.

I learned a very important lesson last night.
(Those of you who follow me on twitter have already heard about this. allieHeureux )
You need no amount of alcohol in your system whatsoever to make an idiot out of yourself at a party.
Just please remember this, and plan accordingly. Be responsible. Don't under any circumstances act like a 12 year old. But I think that applies to every realm of life. Yeah. Just never act like a 12 year old .They're the WORST. 15 year olds are in second place for being the worst.
Those are my words of wisdom to you, oh wise people who read my blog.
Don't ever forget them.

The point of this blog (in case you didn't hear), as soon as I get out to school, is to document the awesome adventures at BYU in the life of Allie Heroux.
So, hopefully it is a ridiculous blast. It probably will be. Lets be serious. A bunch of LDS kids going disco-skating, and not consuming any mind-altering substances whatsoever??
That will get interesting, I guarantee it. We get pretty dang creative.

So, let the countdown begin:
15 days
until I leave MN

Most Exhausting Weekend of My LIFE...and I've been alive for 18 years!...

Shalom everybody. I apologize for the whole waiting thing...I was so super busy!
 Lemme TELL YOU:

So, Saturday morning, I had my graduation party. Talking to 400 people over the span of 4 hours about the same exact thing is SO flipping exhausting, I almost keeled over dead. Which would have been an enormous tragedy. But, what can ya do? It was really fun to see everyone I love in one place! But, as an introvert, it was an excruciating morning. That's alright. It was probably good practice for when I am a wonderful amazing celebrity and people want to talk to me all the time. You know.

Anyway, later that night I was in a show, which was the most nerve-wracking show I have ever been in. Which is weird, cause one time I was the lead in a huge show, and I was as nervous as that times about 13.5 on Saturday! BUT all went very well. I didn't even forget my words to my song :) So I was happy. And more tired. Also that night was the fake Apocalypse AND a giant tornado. Very busy night.

Here is the highlight: I sang a song with Kelsey Schwartz (my best friend), and we both just lost it. It's the sweetest song in the world.
 Listen. You'll cry for sure.

And Sunday I had church, and then seminary graduation, at which I sang a duet with a friend named Kevin. We put the song together in about 20 minutes. It was good! haha

And then Monday, I had a choir concert! Tiring.

Lots of singing this weekend.
And on top of that, I had an awesome surprise!! My friend from when I was little, Thomas Fleming, came up to surprise me from Georgia at my grad party! It was so much fun to have him here this weekend!

But all in all, I am pooped. Hence the no blogging. It happens. Life goes on.
And so does blogging.

I  did a lot of shopping this weekend! I only spent $200, and this is everything I got:
Awesome mustard and brown printed pants
Sperry Topsiders
A gorgeous mustard maxi dress
A CHI straightener (!!)
A really adorable mustard purse (What is the DEAL with all this mustard?!)
New CK One Summer perfume (smells like heaven and sunshine)
And a few dumb things like hairspray and mascara and stuff

BUT here is my secret to having great hair: Aussie Instant-Freeze. I swear by it. It is like...cement for your hair. You can do whatever you want and your hair will never move. Ever again.
It is the most wonderful thing I have ever experienced.

Bottom line is: I NEED some sleep and alone time.
So, if I am mean to any of you in the next few days, it's because I really REALLY need those things.
 It's nothing personal, I promise.

Anyhoo, this is all I'm writing for now. I'll try to keep up better. Promise :)

"Won't you be my honeybee?"...

Alrighty, so my sister Cami is in an official relationship now.
Which, I feel bad for the guy a little bit. Not because he is dating her, but because I don't think he really realizes that Cami has sisters. Who like to talk. And like to talk about boys. To other people. And post about them on their blogs. SO, hopefully he doesn't mind that I am posting about him. His name is Mike and he is very cute and very nice and wonderful to Cami. They are cute together. :) Very very cute. This song is wonderful and the title of this post comes from it. AND it applies! So, enjoy.

I was RIDICULOUSLY productive today, I want you to know.
I went to school, and looked GOOD, and I came home and painted the mailbox, and I planted flowers, and I unloaded the dishwasher, and swept the garage and cleaned off the deck, and I started making cute little cupcake toppers.
So, yeah. All in all, I was a total rockstar.

My stress level is at a 7 or 8 I think. The party is coming up so quickly. I'm terrified! I am an introvert, so I get my energy from being alone. Spending 4 hours with 300 people who are specifically at the party to talk to ME freaks the heck out of me.
So, wish me luck. I know I will be fine, I'm just super nervous!!

ALSO: I have had a major major discovery:
Honestly it is the most genius website since google. I can't even begin to tell you how much I adore that website. Go. Waste hours on it. It's amazing.

And the last topic of the evening:
My best friend in the world! Kelsey Schwartz.
She is a total champ. We share a brain. Which is usually a good thing. Mostly a funny thing. And definitely a wonderful thing. Here is a video that sums up our friendship.
I hope you enjoy it...if you just stick it out and watch the whole thing, I promise that you still won't be impressed, but you will probably laugh a couple of times :)
I hope you liked that. We were at rehearsal for a show when we took this vid. It was great.
SO, I hope you liked it a LOT LOT LOT. :)

"Kiss Me Slowly"...

Okay I found this beautiful (understatement of the century) song when I was stumbling around on Youtube today. And I just can't help but share it with you! It makes my heart beat a little faster, so listen. And enjoy :)

So frickin gorgeous, right??

Anyway, today I made the poster boards with all the pictures from my life and it was yet another stroll down memory lane. It was slightly hilarious to find those pictures of me when I was around...11? And I thought it was cool to part my hair down the middle and wear boy clothes. Awe man! I don't know why I didn't stick with that look. It was a WINNER. I had these awesome boys slip on sneakers that I was totally CONVINCED made me look hardcore awesome. Those are my favorite pictures. Those ones, and the ones where my siblings have THEIR fingers up my nose, or the one of me almost dropping my brother on the shore of the ocean. But I think honestly the ones that take the cake are the ones where I have art supplies everywhere. On every birthday. And I always look so excited. It's just a wonderful reminder that this is my passion. Art is my passion and it always has been. And I just love that I can look back and see how my love for art has grown and grown. It's awesome!

Enough sappiness for one day.

SO, my sister has a boy now. And he's cute. And he's funny. Annnd he's 23. She is 20. My parents are 3 years apart. Coincidence? That is all I will say.

Typing when you are laying down and your laptop is on your tummy is really REALLY hard. You should try it sometime. It's a great workout.

I am going to my little brother's baseball game tonight. His team is called The Twins. Which just happens to be his favorite major league team. And tonight they are playing the Dodgers.
(I don't know if that means anything, but he told me it was a big deal)

My grad party is this weekend and my house is in a state of constant pandemonium! We (and by "we" I mean my mom) have been working so hard to get the landscaping done and, we've cooked a zillion million muffins and cupcakes. It's a brunch, you see, which means it is early in the morning and we're going to eat sausage and eggs and muffins and fruit. Which, I like all of. So it's a good deal. The decorations are all daisies. Fake ones of course. Real ones aren't really in season yet. :( But it will be lovely. We're displaying all my artwork. Well, some of it anyway. So that'll be kinda cool to see all of my work side by side. I never have seen it all together before. I just give it all away for some reason. It should be awesome. I think like 250 or 300 people are coming for sure. Isn't that NUTS?! Oy vey. I can't talk to THAT many people! I am an introvert. This will be exhausting. But good. But exhausting.

The first "last thing"...

So I had my last orchestra concert today...which is weird, cause after this, I have my last Harmony performance, then my last choir concert, then my last day of school, and blah blah blah. So yeah. It was fun. Weird. But fun.

BUT then I went to Five Guys after with a group of people who I've never really hung out with before and it was SO fun! Except some dummy (you know who you are) threw peanuts down my shirt. Which felt weird. But I survived it, and it was very fun. Except I learned that I need to study up on marching band lingo...cause I was a little lost.

1. I absolutely adore this song, it just happens to be my favorite and I listen to it on repeat. Don't judge, I am a Katy Perry fan.

2. Also, I am a huge T Sweezy fan. I'm sorry, those sappy wonderful songs just pluck at my hearstrings. I can't help it. Also, they are great shower-singing songs. (Which leads me to my next point)

3. I am an avid shower-singer. Like honestly. I belt it out in the shower like it's no one's business. I should sell tickets for people to sit outside the door and listen, cause I would make big bucks.

That's all for tonight. I promise I'll keep up with this better! I have bucket loads to tell you all, of course.
P.S. Kelsey Schwartz (My BFF) and I are starting a negativity notebook inspired by some of our other friends who did one. It should be a goldmine of comedy. Honestly. I might share some with you later.

Another BYU dream...

So I keep having these dreams about being at BYU! And I had another one last night...they're AWESOME dreams obviously. I mean honestly, finally a place where Mormons aren't the butt of every joke and where people won't sing "The Book of Mormon: The Musical" in my face. It's not like I am abused for being LDS at school, but everyone definitely thinks it is a joke. So all in all, I am just so relieved to know that in only about 5 and a half weeks, I'll be on campus at BYU where people understand. I won't have to deal with all of the crap anymore, and I am so so SO excited. It will be a wonderful change for my beliefs not only to be respected (finally), but to be embraced and to have so many people to share that with.

Anyway, there's my soul-emptying, whiny portion of the blog for awhile. :)

"Gimme Sympathy" & The Secret to Success...

This song is the best. A friend posted it to my wall and I can't get enough of it! Seriously so good. Listen to it, live it, smell it, taste it, live it, did I say that already? Oh well, it's good. Trust me.

"Gimme Sympathy" by Metric

My day has been just lovely!
Okay honestly though, it was one of those days where everyone EVERYONE is super nice and you have no idea why...? I dunno if that's a thing or not, but it happened to me today. So it must be a thing. Or it is now anyway.

But here's what happened: remember cute boy from yesterday? Well I didn't walk with him to class today, but I saw him before class started and he said "Where were you? I was waiting for you!"...blank stare...((Wait...he IS talking to ME, right?)) "What? Really?...where??" "By the waterfountains!" "Oh...sorry. I guess I wasn't thirsty today." (**kicks self**)

THEN after that, I went to the bathroom, and another cute friend of mine who happens to be a boy was sitting by himself at a table studying. On my way back to class, I wave and he pulls out a chair for me and motions for me to sit with him. "I gotta go to class!", I say, quite shocked at the invite "No, you don't! Come on!" Seriously!! What is happening? I just smiled and went back to class...

AND THEN, I was walking to another class and a DIFFERENT cute boy that I was friends with forever ago stops me in the hallway! "Hey Allie! We haven't talked in forever, how've you been?!" ( this one talking to me too?!) "I've been good! You?" He stops at a locker by a girl, so I just kinda mosey away, TRYING to take signals...and he stops me "Wait! I just stopped to talk to you!" Apparently he doesn't even know the we stop and chat for awhile. WEIRD. I know.

ANNNDDD I was walking with a few of my guy (band) friends, and one of them told me I was like sunshine!
Honestly, at this point I'm thinking "Did someone put a note on my back that says 'Will trade sexual favors for conversation'?? Cause seriously, all the boys in my life were being strangely kind today and I didn't even SHOWER this morning. What is the deal?? I looked like a boy today. Honestly. Basketball shorts, a superhero t-shirt, and cheap flip flops. (The outfit of a champion? YES. The outfit of an attractive girl? NOPE)

SO, I think it will forever be a mystery.
Here is my theory: Pretty girls freak boys out. Frumpy girls are not scary.
Secret to success: Don't look good.
Lesson learned.

The Dentist...

So, I went to the dentist today...NOT my favorite experience ever. I am mostly alright with dentist appointments. It's just that DARN sucky thing that they use to suck out all of your freaks the heck outta me. I do not, nor will I ever know why that is. It freaks me out. So, I got a lot of lectures today: "Don't forget the lower inside back of your mouth when you're brushing", "If you would floss more, you wouldn't have ANY cavities at all, (and you would be happy all the time, and maybe even a supermodel with a hot boyfriend and a KILLER booty, and you'd probably have better grades AND be filthy rich)", and my personal favorite: "You need your wisdom teeth out". Praise heaven! I have ALWAYS wanted my wisdom teeth surgically removed!!(...I hope you can taste the sarcasm)

My triumph? Nadda ONE cavity. *bows* Thank you, thank you.

Then I made a target run with someone (Who shall remain nameless) so she could buy underwear so she wouldn't have to do laundry. BRILLIANT! But she had slightly lame taste in delicates, if you ask me. (You know who you are, lame underwear girl)

On another, slightly related note, it is HOT today! For the first time in a lonnngggg time it passed the 80 degree mark in MN! Here's proof:
{This is quite possibly the BEST picture that has ever been taken of me, by the way}

fig. 1

As seen in figure 1, the thermometer is CLEARLY past the 80 degree mark. And the fact that I am in the picture is proof that it was indeed in MN, and not a picture I got off of the WWW.
Please ignore my appearance...I was going for the 'ogre' look today.

{I would also like you to know that I got uncomfortably close to a bumble bee to take this picture for you.}

Anyway, the humidity is stifling (welcome to MN), but it is wonderful to be able to sit on my deck and write this today!

Also another triumph of the day: A very cute boy from school asked me to walk to class with him.
Once again: *bows* Thank you, thank you.

SO, all in all, I give this day a 7 out of 10...the dentist was a definite -2.5 and the bumble bee subtracted a solid .5 from today's awesomeness. But hey 7 out of 10? That is pretty dang awesome for a tuesday.

Waking up to rain...

This morning, when my alarm went off, I laid back down in bed and listened to the rain. It was so soothing and wonderful. Nothing beats that.

This weekend I did not touch my backpack ONCE, but today it turned out nothing was due anyway. Thank you, Universe, for that :) tender mercies like that are so stinkin great.

That is two positive things about my goal for this blog is to not sound like a total downer...cause I have this habit of talking about the things that bug me more than the good things that happen to me haha SO, so far so good.

So my sisters and I are in love with all things weddings, always have been. I think that's pretty normal when you grow up in a house with mostly girls. :) But we were looking at wedding dresses today, and Cam found the one that I called DIBS on, and SHE LIKES IT. What is this world coming to?? I told her I called it, but she said you can't do that...I beg to differ. You most certainly CAN do that. Here is a picture of the dress in question. (Prepare yourself, it's exquisitely perfect.)

Gorgeous, right?? Well, I will just have to race her and get married first, I suppose. All I need is a man...hmmm...wish me luck.

And so it begins...

Cami and I are lookin SUPER hot as we created our blogs. It's kinda ridiculous.

I did it! I finally got a blog. (LAUREN!) Which is pretty dang exciting, if you ask moi. I am one of those people who writes in a journal every once in awhile so I'm happy to start this thing. My sister Cami (she's 20, I'm sure you'll hear a lot about her over the course of this blog) is sitting with HER laptop on my bed next to me creating her first blog too...which I THINK means our blogs were born at the same time on the same day...can you say twins? Hopefully you can. So...this is the beginning of hopefully a successful blog experience...I tend to kind of forget about these things. haha I'll try really hard not to though!

A little tiny bit about me:
I am a GINGER.
I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
I am going to BYU Provo in one month! WHOOT WHOOT.
I will be living with Miss Lauren Hopper (Which will be a crappin' blast!)
I looovveeee music (I sing a whole dang lot, and play the violin)
My passion more than anything else is ART. I love painting and that's what I am majoring in college. (If all goes as planned :))
My family is wonderful! I have 3 sisters, one brother, and two wonderful parents. Here is a lovely picture of us at Christmas. I think everyone looks great on Christmas.
